**生い立ち**
山形県東田川郡黄金村大字高坂字楯ノ下（現在の鶴岡市高坂）に生まれた。父は農家で、藤沢自身も幼少期から家の手伝いで農作業をしていた。この経験が、後年農村を舞台にした小説や農業をめぐる随筆に影響を与えた。
**教員時代**
1949年に山形師範学校を卒業後、中学校の教師として働いた。優秀な教師として評価されていたが、肺結核を発見されて休職になり、後に東京都内の病院に入院することになった。
**記者時代**
1957年、退院準備に入ったが就職先を見つけることができなかったため、郷里で教員生活を送ることを断念した。歴史研究家の大井篤の妹の勧めにより、歴史関係の新聞に勤め始めた。その後同社の編集長になり、その一方で小説を書き続けていた。

He was born in Oaza Takasaka, Tatenoshita, Kogane Village, Higashitagawa District, Yamagata Prefecture (currently Takasaka, Tsuruoka City). **Teacher days**
After graduating from Yamagata Normal School in 1949, he worked as a junior high school teacher. Although he was praised as an excellent teacher, he was placed on leave after being diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis, and was later admitted to a hospital in Tokyo.
**Reporter era**
In 1957, he prepared to leave the hospital, but was unable to find a job, so he gave up on teaching in his hometown. At the recommendation of Atsushi Oi's younger sister, a historical researcher, he began working for a history-related newspaper. He later became the editor-in-chief of the company, while continuing to write novels.
