Susumu Nomura is a Japanese nonfiction writer and journalist. Born in Tokyo, after dropping out of the English department at Sophia University, he studied abroad in Manila, Philippines for two years, and at the age of 25, based on his experiences, published ``Diary of Service in the New People's Army of the Philippines''. Since then, he has published numerous books and is active in the field of non-fiction works. He has won numerous awards, including the 28th Soichi Oya Nonfiction Award and the 19th Kodansha Nonfiction Award. He has also held positions such as a standing committee member of the Japan PEN Club and a member of the Asahi Shimbun book review committee, and is also involved in educational activities.
