Ryoichi Ikegami is a Japanese manga artist. He is a professor at the Department of Character Design at Osaka University of Arts and is known as a dramatist. It won the 47th Shogakukan Manga Award and the special honor award at the 50th Angoulême International Manga Festival.
Ryoichi Ikegami wanted to become an assistant to Takao Saito and Masaaki Sato, who drew gekiga-style pictures, but was turned down because they were told they didn't have enough people. It is said that he had never read Mizuki's manga until he became Shigeru Mizuki's assistant.
