After graduating from university, he worked at a cram school and then made his debut with his own blog. Received the 58th Gunzo New Literature Award and the 40th Noma Literary Newcomer Award. He has been nominated for the Akutagawa Ryunosuke Prize three times and has won eight awards, including the Mishima Yukio Prize.
