上野誠（うえのまこと）は、日本文学者（万葉学者）・民俗学者。学位は文学博士（1998年）。奈良大学名誉教授。國學院大學文学部日本文学科特別専任教授。
主な研究対象は、万葉集の挽歌史的研究と、万葉文化論。著書の多くは、その研究成果をまとめたものである。また、NHKのラジオ、テレビで萬葉集を講義しているほか、「上野誠の萬葉歌ごよみ」という冠番組を持つ。

Makoto Ueno is a scholar of Japanese literature (Manyo scholar) and folklorist. Degree: Doctor of Letters (1998). Professor emeritus at Nara University. Special full-time professor in the Department of Japanese Literature, Faculty of Letters, Kokugakuin University.
My main research interests are historical research on the Manyoshu elegies and theories on Manyoshu culture. Many of his books are summaries of his research results. In addition to lecturing on Man'yoshu on NHK radio and television, he also has a program called ``Makoto Ueno's Man'yo Uta Goyomi.''
