Noboru Miyata (1936-2000) was a Japanese folklorist. Degree: Doctor of Letters (Tokyo University of Education, 1976). Professor emeritus at the University of Tsukuba. Former president of the Japan Folklore Society. His biological father is Keio Fujisawa, a scholar of Japanese literature.
After graduating from Tokyo University of Education, he engaged in research at the same graduate school and received a doctorate on ``Research on the Miroku Faith: Traditional Messianic Views in Japan.'' Afterwards, he published many works on Japanese folklore and religion, including ``Living God Faith'' and ``Urban Folklore.''
