1932年門司商工会議所会頭に就任し、1935年「満州国」の石油専売制に反対するなど、多くの経歴を残す。1940年に出光興産を設立するとともに、終戦後は従業員約1000人を雇用し、「愚痴をやめよ。世界無比の三千年の歴史を見直せ」と訓示する。
1946年国際石油カルテル独占規制を建言し、1951年に消費者本位の石油政策を発表するなど、日本の石油元売りの先駆者としての名を刻み据える。また、慈善家として宗像大社の「昭和の大造営」に私財を尽くして貢献する。

Born on August 22, 1888 in Akama Village, Munakata District, Fukuoka Prefecture. After graduating from Kobe High School of Commerce, he joined Sakai Shoten, which handles various products including Mitsubishi products, and at the age of 25 he became independent and established Idemitsu Shokai in Moji City, Fukuoka Prefecture. In 1927, he was awarded a letter of appreciation and a silver cup for his successful delivery of axle oil to the South Manchuria Railway.
In 1932, he became chairman of the Moji Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and in 1935 he opposed the oil monopoly in Manchukuo, leaving behind a rich career. In 1940, he established Idemitsu Kosan, and after the end of the war, he hired about 1,000 people and told them, ``Stop complaining. Let's reconsider our 3,000-year history, which is unparalleled in the world.''
In 1946, he advocated for monopoly regulations on international oil cartels, and in 1951 he announced a consumer-oriented oil policy, establishing his name as a pioneer in Japan's oil sales. In addition, as a philanthropist, he devoted his personal funds to contributing to the ``Showa era construction'' of Munakata Taisha Shrine.
