**Because novels move people**
Teru Miyamoto is a Japanese novelist, born in Kobe City, Hyogo Prefecture. After working at an advertising agency, he debuted with "Mud River," which depicts the lives of poor common people in post-war Osaka. He then received the Akutagawa Prize for "Hotarugawa" (1978). In 1986, he received the Yoshikawa Eiji Literary Award for "Yushun." Through many years of effort, he has gained a wide readership.
