寺田寅彦は日本の物理学者、随筆家、俳人。明治11年に東京市で生まれた。東大物理学科卒業後、熊本の五高時代に夏目漱石や田丸卓郎を師匠としていた。また、吉村冬彦というペンネームでも知られていた。
寺田寅彦は数々の著書を残している。代表作には「海の物理学」や「X線と結晶」などがある。このほかにも多くの随筆集を出版しており、「冬彦集」（1923年）が有名である。また、俳人としても活動し、「寅日子」という俳号を持っていた。

Torahiko Terada is a Japanese physicist, essayist, and haiku poet. Born in Tokyo in the 11th year of Meiji. After graduating from the Department of Physics at the University of Tokyo, he studied under Natsume Soseki and Takuro Tamaru during his time at the Fifth High School in Kumamoto. He was also known by the pen name Fuyuhiko Yoshimura.
