Japanese essayist, novelist, and TV personality. 150cm (self-proclaimed 146cm as of 2024). Her father is writer Hiroyuki Agawa. The origin of her name is that after spending a year at her aunt's house, she moved to Nakano and Shinjuku wards in Tokyo, and then graduated from Keio University. Afterwards, she appeared as a newscaster on news programs such as "Morning Hotline" and "Tsukushi Tetsuya NEWS23." In 1992, she moved to Washington, D.C. After returning to Japan, her serialized column "Sawako Agawa's I Want to Meet This Person" began, and as a TV personality, she is known for co-starring with Beat Takeshi, Makoto Otake, Hisayuki Miyake, and others. In October 2011, her eponymous talk show "Sawako no Asa" began broadcasting, and in 2012 she published "The Power of Listening - 35 Tips to Open Your Heart" (Bunshun Shinsho).
