野尻抱影は、日本の英文学者・随筆家・天文民俗学者。早稲田大学文学部英文学科卒業。準惑星冥王星の和訳命名者でもあります。日本各地の科学館やプラネタリウムで行われる、星座とその伝説の解説には、彼の著作が引用されることが多くなります。
野尻抱影は1885年生まれ、1977年に老衰により亡くなりました。しかし、彼の功績は現在でも認められており、小惑星1938 WAに彼の名前を冠した(3008) 野尻と命名されました。

Hokei Nojiri is a Japanese English literature scholar, essayist, and astronomical folklorist. Graduated from the Department of English Literature, Faculty of Letters, Waseda University. He is also the person who named the Japanese translation of the dwarf planet Pluto. His works are often cited in explanations of constellations and their legends held at science museums and planetariums across Japan.
