Akira Nakano was a politician. After graduating from Osaka City Ogimachi Commercial School, he worked for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Mizushima Aircraft Corporation and Kurashiki Rayon, while also participating in local political activities such as running for Kurashiki city council members. He served two terms as a member of the House of Representatives of the Komeito Party from all prefectures in Kochi Prefecture, and two terms as a member of the House of Councilors. After that, he served as a member of the Central Control Committee and the Accounting Audit Committee. He passed away on March 8, 1996, and the next day he was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun, Second Class.
