川田順造（かわだ じゅんぞう）は、1934年に東京都で生まれた。1958年に東京大学教養学科の文化人類学・人文地理学分科から卒業し、同大学大学院の人類学専攻に進みました。
川田順造は、サバンナでモシ族と生活を共にする中で、言葉や音楽が西洋的な概念では説明できないことを実証しました。その結果、『声』という本が出版され、1988年に藤村記念歴程賞を受賞したほか、フランス語圏大賞のメダルも授与されました。

Junzo Kawada was born in Tokyo in 1934. In 1958, he graduated from the Department of Cultural Anthropology and Human Geography at the University of Tokyo's College of Liberal Arts, and went on to major in anthropology at the same university's graduate school.
While living with the Mossi people in the savannah, Junzo Kawada demonstrated that language and music cannot be explained using Western concepts. As a result, the book ``Voices'' was published, and in 1988 he was awarded the Fujimura Memorial Rekijo Prize, as well as the medal of the French-speaking Grand Prize.
His representative books include ``Mt. Fuji and the Shamisen'' (2013), ``Natural History of the Savannah'' (1979), and ``Savannah Notebook'' (1981).
