Yasuo Hasebe is a Japanese legal scholar. Specializes in constitutional law and public law. Professor Emeritus of the University of Tokyo, Professor of the Waseda University Faculty of Law and Graduate School of Law. Chairman of the Japan Society of Public Law and vice president of the International Association for Constitutional Law (IACL).
After studying at the University of Tokyo and going to Gakushuin University as a professor, he returned to the University of Tokyo and served as head of the law school. He has also served as a visiting scholar and visiting professor at the University of London and New York University. He has written many books on the Constitution, and was the first in Japanese to use the term ``Constitution Studies.''
