研究テーマは思想・良心の自由、基本的人権の基礎理論、福祉国家と憲法、平等権などです。また東京大学教育学部や東北大学法学部でも教鞭を執っていました。
早稲田大学体育会剣道部の部長も務めていましたが、2018年1月22日に深夜に中央自動車道上で交通事故を起こし亡くなりました。

Research themes include freedom of thought and conscience, the basic theory of fundamental human rights, the welfare state and the constitution, and the right to equality. He also taught at the Faculty of Education, University of Tokyo, and the Faculty of Law, Tohoku University.
He was also the director of the Kendo club of the Waseda University Athletic Association, but on January 22, 2018, he died in a traffic accident on the Chuo Expressway late at night.
